ONE Future Welcomes Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc.

Natural Gas Coalition membership reaches 26

June 16, 2020 – Our Nation’s Energy Future (ONE Future) announced today that Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. (Southern Star) has joined the coalition; bringing the total number of member companies to 26.

“Southern Star has more than 100 years of history to their name, and we’re pleased that they are bringing that prestigious background to the ONE Future coalition,” said Richard Hyde, Executive Director, ONE Future. “Environmental stewardship is an integral part of Southern Star’s values and they will be a true asset to our organization.”

As a ONE Future member, Southern Star will report as part of the Transmission & Storage sector within the coalition and will hold a seat on ONE Future’s Board of Directors. The 2018 Methane Intensity Report was released in the Fall of 2019, and the coalition registered a 2018 methane intensity number of 0.326%. This was a decrease of 41% from 2017 – demonstrating that the natural gas industry can minimize methane emissions and increase production and throughput, while supplying much needed energy to the U.S. and around the globe for years to come.

“Southern Star is a leading transporter of natural gas to America’s heartland, with approximately 6,000 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline in the Midwest and Mid-Continent regions of the United States.” said Jimmy Staton, President & CEO of Southern Star. “We are proud to partner with ONE Future as it represents our continued commitment to maintaining our operations in an environmentally friendly manner that promises safety and efficiency to our customers and employees.”
