BHE Pipeline Group consists of BHE GT&S, Kern River Gas Transmission Company and Northern Natural Gas.

BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, that became a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in November 2020. The company currently operates around 5,500 miles of transmission lines in the eastern U.S and 756 Bcf of total natural gas storage — with 420 Bcf of working gas capacity — along with gathering, processing and field services businesses. It also provides a variety of LNG solutions through Pivotal LNG, its 25% operating stake in Cove Point LNG — the import, export and liquefaction facility in Lusby, Maryland — and other LNG processing and storage initiatives.

Kern River Gas Transmission Company, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, began operating in 1992 and is a direct link between the abundant Rocky Mountain natural gas-producing basins and Western markets. Kern River’s interstate natural gas pipeline system includes approximately 1,700 miles of pipeline and 11 fully automated compressor stations.

Northern Natural Gas has been in business since 1930 and owns the largest interstate natural gas pipeline system in the U.S. Northern Natural Gas’ pipeline system stretches across 11 states, from Southern Texas to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, providing its customers access to five of the major natural gas supply regions in North America. The company provides natural gas transportation and storage services to 81 utilities, producers, energy marketing companies and industrial end users. It also provides grid transportation between other interstate and intrastate pipelines, and access to major North American gas supply basins in Canada, the Rocky Mountains, the Midcontinent and Permian Basins, and major shale gas developments.
